By Chasady Gibson, senior at North Jackson High School
If you know me, then you know I work for everything I own. I have a part-time job where I average about twenty-seven hours a week. I have a car that I put the down payment on, and I pay seventy-five dollars a week for it. While working, I go to North Jackson High School where I have maintained mostly A’s, but maybe a B here and there. Here recently my car got robbed. They stole my wallet, which had cash money, the card that I get paid on, and my ID. They also stole my backpack that had all my school books in it and dumped it out. This all happened in my driveway; what if they would’ve came in the house? It was just my little sister and me at home when the burglar broke into my car. I was getting ready to leave for Saturday School. When I opened my door, the inside of my car was destroyed. I immediately realized my bag and wallet were gone. I ran in the house and told my sister to keep the door locked and answer it for nobody. I was terrified. To think–my home, the place that I’m supposed to feel the safest at is now the scariest. I don’t understand why someone would want to steal someone else’s personal belongs. I worked for that stuff. It’s not hard keeping a job and obeying laws. Some people are just selfish and would rather find an easier way to get what they want. Stealing is not the option. I believe the robber is in jail now, so which would have been easier: working for your own stuff or going to jail trying to take someone else’s?
