Woodville (1-3) and Vina clashed last Friday night as each team looked to gain their first win of the season. The Panthers snapped their 14-game losing streak with a dominating 58-26 victory over Vina at Frazier Field. Woodville kicked off the play with a 73-yard run from Ace Weaver and a Sam Peek 2-yard touchdown run. Vina (0-3) answered with a scoring run on its next possession. However, the Panther onslaught was just beginning as they added multiple scoring drives for a 20-6 opening quarter lead. Woodville leading things 28-6 late in the second quarter, Peek added a 14-yard touchdown. He later found Richard Rosas who caught the ball one-handed for a 44-yard touchdown pass into the endzone and Weaver had a successful 2-point conversion. At the half the Panther led with an impressive 36-12 advantage. In the third, Vina added two touchdowns but their rally was cut short with DeShawn Billions’ 4-yard touchdown run and Peek’s 2-point conversion extending Woodville’s lead to 44-20. Peek recorded his fourth TD on a 10-yard rush in the final frame. Weaver caught a 36 yard pass from Peek to the end zone and cleared a successful two-point conversion lifting the Panthers to 58-26. Per the AHSFHS, Friday night’s 58 point game was the most points Woodville has scored in a single game in the program’s history.
