The Scottsboro Wildcats defeated the Tigers of Ardmore Friday night. Scottsboro took control early when Ryle Whitehead returned the opening kickoff 67 yards. On the first play from scrimmage, Cam Ellis Bass raced 20 yards for the touchdown to give the Wildcats the lead with only 23 seconds off the game clock. Kaylem Dupree added a 9-7yard touchdown scamper minutes later and Mees DeYoung’s PAT, his first of five on the night, stretched Scottsboro’s lead to 13-0. Just a minute later, Whitehead scored again from 10 yards out to extend the Wildcat advantage to 20-0. Jacob Manning got in on the scoring action next with a 9-yard run midway of the second quarter to put Scottsboro up 27-0. Ardmore finally found the endzone when Luke Hogan scored from 10-yards out, but the Wildcats countered with touch down runs of five and 53 yards by A.J. Widgeon and Bass respectively. Those two late scores gave Scottsboro a 41-6 lead at the half. Scottsboro’s bench gave up three more Tiger touchdowns in the second half, but the game was out of reach for Ardmore, and the Wildcats defeated the Tigers 41-27. The Wildcats ran the ball 56 times for 402 yards. Bass had 204 of that total off 19 carries. Manning followed with 135 yards on 17 carries.
