Fort Payne held its annual Wildcat Classic last Wednesday welcoming various area teams to Fort Payne High School for the three-day tourney.

Section topples Sylvania, falls to Plainview, Fort Payne at Wildcat Classic
Ider blanks Sylvania; Fyffe Holds off Glencoe at the annual Fort Payne Tournament.
Logan Patterson drove in four on two hits as the Lions crushed the Rams 11-4 last Thursday at Fort Payne’s annual Wildcat Classic.
Jacob Stringer surrendered three runs on four hits, striking out ten over five innings, as Section tallied nine hits.
The Lions began to pull away with three runs in the third inning with Patterson singles on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs and a single from Drake McCutchen, before pulling away for good with six runs in the fourth inning led by Patterson, Drake McCutchen and Blake Henry.
Sylvania’s B Smith allowed three runs on three hits and struck out three over two and third innings.
Plainview 13,
Section 3
Section’s Jacob Cooper allowed nine hits and nine runs, striking out seven in five innings, as the Bears shutout Section last Wednesday.
Blake Henry and Colton Rice relieved Cooper, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.
The Lions collected seven hits. Henry went 3-for-3 at the plate as he and Drake McCutchen racked up multiple hits.
Plainview’s Braxton Henson allowed four hits and three runs, striking out six and hitting a single on a 0-2 scoring two runs in the second inning.
The Bears collected 12 hits with Ethan Williams, Braden Haymond, Logan Payne and Samuel Crowell each collecting multiple hits. Williams went three hits in four at-bats.
Fort Payne 14, Section 2
Section’s Drake McCutchen allowed five hits and nine runs over four innings, striking out seven. Logan Patterson, Blake Henry and McCutchen each collected one hit, as the Lions fell 14-2 on opening day.
Harcrow finished with six RBIs, batting 3 for 3, scoring two runs. Will Green added a three-run homer, Ricky Adame went 3 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Brannon Oliver plated two runs on two hits.
Fort Payne collected 11 hits as Green struck out five and walked two, surrendering one run on two hits in four innings. Relieving Green, Alex Akins allowed one hit and struck out one.
