Fyffe placed 40 points on the scoreboard in the first quarter of last Friday’s 54-0 shutdown against Section at Paul Benefield Stadium.
Brodie Hicks ran for a 16-yard touchdown and Yahir Balcazar’s point after getting the Red Devils’ scoring drive started.
At the 7:45 mark, Logan Anderson rushed for a 5-yard score and a good Balcazar PAT. A few short plays later, Blake Dobbins connected with Ryder Gipson for a 10-yard TD pass.
Fyffe capitalized on their momentum as Gipson ran for a 16-yard touchdown, and Balcazar kicked a good point after.
With 1:29 left in the frame, Anderson picked up his second scoring drive as he rushed for a 15-yard touchdown. Balcazar added another successful PAT for a 34-0 score.
Simon Hicks rushed for 32 yards with 18 seconds left on the clock for Fyffes’ sixth first-quarter touchdown. Balcazar closed out the quarter with a good kick.
Despite their efforts, Section was unsuccessful in holding back the Red Devils as they extended their lead with a Hunter Machen 2-yard score and a good PAT from Jesse Martin early in the second quarter of play.
A few plays later, Caleb Mitchell broke free for a 22-yard touchdown run and Martin added a good PAT, closing out the Red Devils’ scoring drive.
Anderson finished with two rushing touchdowns, carrying three times for 50 yards, Brodie Hicks ran three times for 64 yards and a touchdown, Machen rushed 19 yards on two carries and a touchdown, and Gipson ran three times for 15 yards and a TD.
Blake Dobbins completed one pass attempt for a 10-yard score.
Fyffe tallied 281 yards of offense to Section’s 34 yards.
No. 1-ranked Fyffe continues its winning streak, improving to a 4-0 overall record and a 3-0 in Class 2A, Region 7.
With the loss, Section drops to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the region. The Lions host Westbrook Christian on Friday.
