The Skyline Girls Varsity Basketball team traveled to Sylvania last weekend to participate in the Kandieland Shootout tourney.
The Vikings kicked off tournament play by taking on Cherokee County. Class 1A Area 15 Skyline overpowered Cherokee County 63-53.
Lexie Stucky led four Vikings in double-digit scoring with 15 points. Kenzie Manning had 14 points, Brinlee Potts had 13 points and Blakely Stucky had 11 points. Kaina King added seven points and Jaslynn Wilkinson chipped in two points.
Lexie Stucky placed Skyline on the board before Cherokee County stepped up to take the first-quarter lead 20-11.
Skyline rallied to narrow the gap to 35-32 at the half.
Stucky tied the game at 36, before netting a shot to take the lead early in the third quarter.
Manning and Potts added three 3s, Wilkinson shot three times for seven points, and Blakely Stucky chipped in two as the Vikings closed out the third 48-42.
In the final frame, Skyline accumulated 14 points putting the game out of reach at 62-54 over Cullman.

Class 7A Area 7 Huntsville (10-3) triumphed over Helena (2-9) in a 36-26 victory.
The Class 3A Area 14 Rams (6-2) fell short against Cullman (3-1) 68-65 during the evening’s third matchup.
Class 1A Area 12 undefeated Spring Garden (7-0) closed out tournament play by downing New Hope (3-3) 58-50.
