Scottsboro boys put together a commanding 64-49 victory over Springville at the Class 5A Northeast Regional Semi-Finals last week at Pete Mathews Coliseum in Jacksonville.
Parker Bell led the Wildcats with 15 points and seven rebounds, Jake Jones netted 13 points, Tyson Sexton tallied 12 points, Ethan Roberts had 10 points, Seth Whitmire added four points, Kyle Wright and Eli Sparks finished with three points each, Davon Walker and Tyler Shelton each chipped in two points.
Despite Springville’s 17-13 first-quarter lead, the Wildcats picked up momentum in the second quarter adding 15 points, commencing with a Sexton 3-point shot at the 7:52 mark.
At the half, the Wildcats held a 28-26 advantage, as Bell paced Scottsboro with double-digit scoring 10 points, Sexton with 7, and Roberts with 6.
Scottsboro carried its offensive and defensive efforts into the second half, limiting Springville to just seven baskets in the third while netting 17 points en route to a 64-49 victory.
Scottsboro tallied 35 total rebounds, 13 offensive, and 22 defensive against Springville.
The Wildcats took on Guntersville Wednesday morning for the Class 5A Boys Northeast Regional Championship at Jacksonville University. Editor’s Note: The game was not completed before press time. Check out the next edition for more information.
