SCOTTSBORO, ALA. – On August 21, 2024, Scottsboro City Schools confirmed that a threat was made earlier in the day involving students at Scottsboro High School. According to district officials, a student at the high school made a threatening statement directed at another student. Upon learning of the threat, the school administration, in coordination with the Scottsboro City Schools District, took immediate steps to ensure the safety of all students and staff. The Scottsboro Police Department was promptly notified and is actively involved in handling the situation. District representatives assured the public that the student responsible for the threat has been suspended while the administration and police continue their investigation. The District stated that further disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the student code of conduct. In a statement, the District expressed its gratitude for the swift response and continued support of the Scottsboro Police Department. “Scottsboro City Schools appreciates the help and partnership of the Scottsboro Police Department. The District’s highest priority is ensuring the safety of its students, faculty, and staff, and the District believes its actions in handling this matter are consistent with that priority.” As the investigation proceeds, the District and law enforcement are working closely together to address the situation and maintain a safe and secure environment for all members of the school community.
