Pisgah slipped past Plainview Friday night in one of the sloppiest games ever played from a weather and ball-handling standpoint. The game saw seven turnovers in all. Both teams fumbled the ball five times each. Each team lost three of those, and Plainview also had an interception. However, in the end, the Eagles held onto it long enough to get the mud-soaked win over the Bears. The game sent the fourth seed playoff spot in Class 3A, Region 7, into a three-way tie on paper, but in reality, the first tiebreaker favors Pisgah and will put the Eagles on the road in the first round. Plainview started off moving the ball in the rain, but their first drive ended with a fumble near midfield. Pisgah immediately took advantage when Nathaniel Cornelison went 44-yards for a touchdown to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead. The Bears took the lead early in the second quarter when Noah White hit Corey Blair for a 28-yard scoring strike. Brody McCurdy punched into the endzone for the 2-point conversion, and the Bears took a tenuous 8-6 lead with 9:15 to play in the half. Pisgah countered with a quick drive that culminated in a 4-yard scoring run by Rhyan Barrett to give the Eagles a lead they would never relinquish. The second half was marred by penalties for the Bears who struggled in third-and-long situations. In the end, Pisgah slipped past Plainview 12-8.
