Shavers was born on August 5, 1966. Her deep ties to her hometown of Pisgah remained throughout her life. She graduated from Pisgah High School in 1984, where she played basketball, cheerleading, and slow-pitch softball.
Lisa began her teaching career in 1991 at Bryant and Flat Rock elementary schools before spending a significant portion of her career at Pisgah High School. Lisa’s support extended beyond sports, as she was an avid supporter of all Pisgah clubs and teams, always present at events and cheering for the Eagles.
Lisa was also an avid traveler and lover of history. She had a deep appreciation for American history and passed this passion along to her students. Throughout her life, she visited numerous historical sites, sharing stories and experiences that brought her classroom to life.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Brenton “Goose” Shavers. She is survived by her husband, Leabron; her aunt, Nancy; her aunt, Linda; uncles, cousins, and a host of dear friends who will remember her as a devoted educator, a tireless volunteer, and a true friend to all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Melissa Shavers Memorial Scholarship at Cadence Bank in her honor.
