Pisgah fell to Sylvania Friday night in a crucial region loss. The Rams took control early on touchdown runs by Gareth Anderson to give Sylvania a 14-0 lead midway of the opening period. Pisgah answered late in the first with a 1-yard touchdown by Rhyan Barrett. The 2-point conversion failed, and the score stood at 14-6. Micah Welden closed the first quarter with a touchdown to give Sylvania a 20-6 lead after one. Pisgah countered on the first play of the second quarter when Nate Cornelison went 64 yards for a touchdown. Sylvania immediately punched back with another touchdown drive to stretch the lead to 27-12. The Rams followed that score with another when Brody Smith took advantage of an Eagles turnover to hit Jordan Johnson for a 30-yard touchdown strike. Mason Sanders got in on the action with a scoring run that put the Rams up 41-12. Law connected with Cornelison again late in the second to score from 38 yards out, and the Eagles went into halftime down 48-18. Each team scored once more in the third quarter. Weldon ran in from the 10-yard line to extend Sylvania’s lead, and Cornelison got in from the three to cut the lead again. Neither team found the endzone in the final period and Pisgah fell to Sylvania 55-16.
