Fyffe captured its seventh straight regional championship in a 40-6 rout of Pisgah last Friday night. Pisgah put together a strong effort. Despite the loss, they had secured second place seed in the region and a first-round home playoff game. The Red Devils put together a 27-6 first-half lead, as Logan Anderson rushed for a 13-yard touchdown and capped an 80-yard drive with another scoring run. The Eagles answered, putting together an 85-yard drive, capped with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Jett Jeffery. A failed point after made it 14-6. Late in the second quarter, Fyffe added an Anderson 1-yard score and a 3-yard touchdown for a 27-6 half-time advantage. The Eagles recovered a Fyffe fumble at the start of the third but were unable to capitalize on it. The Red Devils took possession, and Anderson added his fifth touchdown run in the final frame. Brodie Hicks accounted for Fyffe’s final score of the night after Hunter Machen intercepted Gilbert, returning the ball 41 yards to the Pisgah 11. Gilbert led Pisgah with 39 yards on 15 carries and completed 13 of 23 passes for 105 yards with an interception and a touchdown. The Eagles finished with 147 total yards on 49 plays and Jakob Kirby caught three passes for 45 yards. With the loss, Pisgah fell to 6-2 in Class 2A, and 5-1 in Region 7. The Eagles played their final region matchup against county rival Section (1-8,1-5) on Thursday. Game information was not available before press time.
