The North Sand Mountain Bison clinched their seventh straight playoff appearance as the Bison defeated Falkville to clinch a spot in the playoffs. NSM scored on their first two possessions in the game on their way to a 29-14 victory over Class 2A Region 7 foe. NSM used five plays to march down the field to set up a 19-yard touchdown pass from Landon Keller to Derek Bearden to get the Bison on the board. On their next possession, the Bison scored off a Mason Smith 6-yard touchdown run to stretch the lead to 14-0 in the first quarter. NSM’s defense got on the board when Falkville’s running back was tackled in the endzone for a Bison safety, but Falkville would score before the break to cut the deficit to 16-6. NSM scored in the fourth quarter when Bearden rushed in from 8-yards out but the Blue Devils answered with an 8-play scoring drive that got them to 23-14. NSM scored again when Smith ran in for a 9-yard touchdown run to cap off the scoring in the game and seal the win. Smith and Joshua Farmer each rushed for 126 yards for the Bison while Hank Farmer ran for 118 yards on 16 carries. Keller finished 5-of-9 passing for 69 yards. North Sand Mountain (4-5, 3-3) clinched the fourth-place spot for the playoffs but will finish out their regular season against Sylvania at the Rams Stadium on Friday, October 29. The Bison will travel to Midfield, Class 2A Region 5 first-place seed, on November 5 for the playoff game.
