After leading most of the game last week against South Pittsburg and coming up short at the end, it was a different story this week. North Jackson scored with 10 seconds to take a region win over Madison County. Madison County got on the board first to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. North Jackson answered in the second quarter as Macklin Guess scored from 5-yards out to cut the lead to 7-6 after the missed extra point to end the half. North Jackson grabbed the lead on the kickoff with a 92-yard touchdown to give the Chiefs a 12-7 lead. Madison County scored in the fourth quarter to take a 15-12 lead. Madison County got the ball back with just over five minutes to play. The Chiefs’ defense stepped up and forced a punt. North Jackson struck it big on the first play from scrimmage as Dalton Morris’s pass was deflected into the hands of Chief receiver Nick Jernigan who raced 64-yards to the Madison County 3-yard line. Madison County forced North Jackson into a fourth-down. Morris found Brady Cunningham for a 7-yard touchdown as North Jackson defeated Madison County 20-15. Dalton Morris completed 10-18 passes for 173 yards and rushed for 43 yards. Brady Cunningham caught five passes for 51 yards in the win. North Jackson will host Randolph in region play and Homecoming Friday Night with playoff implications. The kickoff is a 7:00 pm.
