New Kid on the Block
There is a new kid on the block. Really, he is not a kid, but he will be in charge of many children. Cody Brown became Stevenson’s new elementary principal on July 1, 2019. Brown will oversee the Pre-K through fourth-grade school made up of approximately 343 students and 22 teachers. His wife, Melissa, will also join the North Jackson family as a science teacher. They have two children.
Brown is a graduate of North Jackson High School. He
received education in mathematics from the University of West Alabama. He
studied Educational Administration at the University of Alabama and
Instructional Leadership at Troy State University.
Brown has previously taught in the classroom as well as
filling the role of assistant principal. From 2010 through 2017, Brown taught
mathematics at Smith Station Freshman Center in Smith Station, Alabama. During
a portion of this time, he also worked as an adjunct math instructor at Troy
University’s Columbus, GA campus. From 2017 until 2019, Brown resided near
Eufaula, AL where he served as assistant principal at Admiral Moore Middle
School.
Stevenson welcomes Brown and his family back home as he assumes his new role. Stevenson’s Meet and Greet with teachers and Principal Brown is August 5, 2019, from 5:30 to 7:30. Parents can come by at any time during the two hours to meet everyone and drop-off school supplies.
North Jackson Press welcomes the new kid on the block.
