Man Shot During Burglary
According to Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, Rocky
Harnen, on the night of Monday, July 15, a man was shot in a
burglary incident.
A Pisgah resident noticed two men on his property on County Road
83. It seemed that the two were
attempting to steal gasoline from the homeowner’s shed.
The homeowner came out of his house with a pistol, called the
Sheriff’s Office, fired a few warning shots at the intruders, and was able to subdue
the men until law enforcement officials arrived on the scene.
While
awaiting law enforcement agents, one of the would-be burglars got up and came
toward the homeowner with a knife, but the homeowner shot the man in the
knee.
After the deputies arrived, the wounded man was transported to
Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro and later transferred to Erlanger
Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Brandon Lynn Tinker, age 34 of Pisgah, was arrested, taken to the Jackson County Jail, and charged with third burglary degree, theft third degree, and using false identification to obstruct justice.
The man that was shot in a burglary incident will also face charges after being released from the hospital.
