The North Jackson Lady Chiefs took the lead late in the game in a 4-3 victory over Huntland on Tuesday, April 16. The game was tied at three with North Jackson batting in the bottom of the fifth when Charley Smith singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Huntland got things moving in the first inning when Mattie Danley drove in one off a single.
After Huntland scored two runs in the top of the fourth, the Lady Chiefs answered with two of their own. Huntland scored when Sarah Master singled on the first pitch of the at bat scoring one run. North Jackson then answered when Makenna Jones singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Arielle Haynes earned the victory in the circle for the Lady Chiefs. She surrendered three runs on four hits over five innings, striking out seven. Hadley Burnette threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Burnette recorded the last six outs to earn the save for North Jackson. Shaleigh Garner took the loss for Huntland. She went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one.
Jones, Haynes, Smith, Burnette, Chloe Chisenall, and Mikaela Barnes each collected one hit to lead the Lady Chiefs. Danley led Huntland with two hits in three at bats.
