The North Jackson Lady Chiefs dominated Randolph School 18-0 on Tuesday, April 9, as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Arielle Haynes struck out Kiara Beaks to finish off the game. North Jackson got things moving in the first inning when Josie Thompson singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The Lady Chiefs notched eight runs in the fifth inning. Sarah Kate Garner, Makenna Jones, Haynes, Amber Atkins, Hadley Burnette, and Avery Wynne each drove in runs during the inning. A single by Eliana Horawitz in the fourth inning was about the only positive for Randolph. Thompson earned the win for North Jackson. She went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out five and walking zero. Haynes threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Joanna Veja took the loss for Randolph. She lasted five innings, allowing 14 hits and 18 runs while striking out eight. The Lady Chiefs launched one home run on the day when Atkins had a dinger in the fourth inning. North Jackson collected 14 hits on the day. Jones, Thompson, Burnette, and Wynne all had multiple hits for the Lady Chiefs. Thompson and Jones all had three hits to lead North Jackson. Horawitz went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Randolph in hits.
