The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department released the following information. On Friday March 29, 2019, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Narcotics Investigators along with the Dekalb County Drug Task Force, ALEA Drug Task Force Region F, and Stevenson Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence on County Road 70 in Stevenson, AL… This search was part of an ongoing 5 month joint investigation into Methamphetamine Distribution in the Stevenson area. During this search, investigators located approximately 2.8 OUNCES of Methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia and a stolen handgun. During a further search of the residence, a smaller quantity of Methamphetamine, additional firearms and $1,563.00 in cash was located and seized.
Five people were arrested in connection with this investigation: JIMMY WAYNE MCCARSON, age 61 and SHARON GAYLE MCCARSON, 60, of Stevenson, were charged with (1)Trafficking -Methamphetamine, (2)Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine, (3)Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance-Lorazepam, (4)Illegal Possession of Prescription Medication-Gabapentin, (5) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and (6) Receiving Stolen Property 4th. SHARON MCCARSON also had a warrant for Failure to Appear on Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
BOBBY LYNN HARTLEY, 38, of Bridgeport, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Loitering in a Drug House.
FREDDIE ORLANDO RAMIREZ, 43, of Flat Rock, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Loitering in a Drug House. Ramirez also had warrants for Failure to Pay on Domestic Violence 3rd and Failure to Appear-No Driver’s License.
JOHNATHAN BENTON CLIPPINGER, 54, of Chattanooga TN, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd, and Loitering in a Drug House.
All five defendants were transported to the Jackson County Jail and booked on the listed charges. Jimmy MCCARSON was later released on $35,900 Bond. Sharon MCCARSON was later released on $37,400 Bond. Johnathan CLIPPINGER was later released on $13,100 Bond. Bobby HARTLEY remains in custody, and Bond has not yet been set. Freddie RAMIREZ remains in custody, and a HOLD has been placed by the Department of Homeland Security.
More charges may be pending against some suspects in this case.
