Jackson County BOE Meeting

The Jackson County Board of Education met on August 22, 2019, for its regular August meeting.  After completing the General Business portion of the meeting, the board approved the following personnel actions:

  • Leave of Absence for Jamie Pruett from August 12, 2019, through December 20, 2019
  • Retirement of Becky Holland as an eight-hour Custodian at Flat Rock School
  • Resignation of Micah Bas as County-wide Special Services Aide
  • Transfer of Annie Johnson from 50% Counselor and 50% Teacher at Stevenson Elementary to 50% Counselor at Stevenson Elementary and 50% Counselor at Skyline High School
  • Transfer of Beth Casey from County-wide ELL Aide to 50% Elementary Teacher at North Sand Mountain
  • Transfer of Josh Wright from Teacher at North Jackson High School to Assistant Principal at Skyline High School
  • Transfer of Haley Atkins Shrader from County-wide Instructional Aide to 50% Elementary Teacher at Section High School
  • Employment of Johnny Childress as 50% Counselor at Bryant School and 50% Counselor at Pisgah High School
  • Employment of Rhonda Dennis as Secondary Teacher at Section High School
  • Employment of Gina Thayer as 50% Counselor at Woodville High School
  • Employment of Christie Fulmer as 50% Elementary Teacher at Skyline High School
  • Employment of Mandi Goza as 50% Elementary Teacher at Pisgah High School
  • Employment of Morgan Gothard as 50% Elementary Teacher at Stevenson Elementary School
  • Employment of Crissen Light as 50% Elementary Teacher at Bridgeport Middle School
  • Employment of Maria Kirkland, Amanda Workman, Natalie Stevens, Charles Ryan West, and Ashley Prince as County-wide Instructional Aides

The board approved the following as Site Coordinators for the 21st CCLC Program contingent on grant renewal:

  • Delia Kirk at Stevenson Elementary School
  • Dionne Sartin at Stevenson Middle School
  • Angelia Kelly at Bridgeport Middle School
  • Kathy Frizzelle at Bridgeport Elementary School
  • Brianna Henson at North Sand Mountain High School
  • Madge Smith at Pisgah High School
  • Marlene Neely at Section High School
  • Sharon Jordan at Macedonia School until September 30, 2019

The board approved the following 21st CCLC Teachers and Instructional Aides:

  • Nancy Lawman and Ginger King at Stevenson Elementary School
  • Allison Vernon, Michelle Dalton, and  Don Whisenant at Stevenson Middle School
  • Michelle Willis at Bridgeport Middle School
  • Rose Troy, Donna Abbott, and Shannon Titshaw at Bridgeport Elementary School
  • Laci Davidson, Brooke Smith, and Renee Shirley at North Sand Mountain High School
  • Marsha Baty, Merry Benson, Robin Shirey, and Darlene Worley at Pisgah High School
  • Michelle Holcomb, Shirlene Moore, Kayla Massey, Tonya Gowers, Robin Blackwell, Melissa McCutchen, and Sally Blackmon at Section High School
  • Crystal Woods, Marla Flowers, and Brittany Haynes at Macedonia School
  • Maria O’Hagan and Cindy Whisman as Aides at Stevenson Elementary School
  • Jackie Tate as Aide at Stevenson Middle School
  • Jodie Benefield and Jennifer Kerby as EZ Reporters

The board approved the following Coaching Hires:

  • Cole Porter as Junior Varsity Football Coach at North Jackson High School
  • Jamie Darwin as Junior High Football Coach at Woodville High School
  • Jeremy Campbell, Mike Olinger, and Shawn Phillips as Boat Captains for Pisgah High School

Other additions were added to the Jackson County Board of Education Agenda that were approved at the meeting, but were not available at press time.
