JACKSON COUNTY, ALA. – The Jackson County Board of Education convened on July 24, 2024, to address a comprehensive agenda aimed at ensuring the smooth operation and preparation for the upcoming school year. Here are the highlights from the meeting: Minutes Approval and Financial Matters The board first considered corrections, additions, or deletions to the June 11, 2024, work session and board meeting minutes, followed by a motion to approve the financial statements for May 2024. Total payroll expenditures were reported at $4,494,625.00, with non-payroll expenditures totaling $3,166,703.29. Contracts and Purchases Several motions were passed to approve various contracts and purchases essential for educational resources and services:
Ice Cream Warehouse was awarded the bid for CNP ice cream for the 2024-2025 school year at $195.47 per line item, following adjustments due to contested bids.
Job descriptions for the School-Based Mental Health Advocate and School Social Worker were approved.
Purchases included Spire materials from EPS Operations, LLC ($76,760.20), Open Court Reading materials from McGraw-Hill School Education ($60,352.50), and Bridge to Writing materials from Heggerty ($69,259.75).
