I’ve Been Thinking…Christmas Movies
As one of the millions of women who delight in a good
romance movie (aka chick flick) that happens to involve a Christmas theme, I’m
sure I’m not the only one that has been excited about the Hallmark and Lifetime
networks’ 2019 Christmas movie lineup.
Every year there seems to be a multitude of new Christmas
movies, and this year is certainly not an exception. The 2019 Christmas movie lineup actually
began in late October (the 25th or 26th as I recall) and will
continue through New Year’s Eve. You can
rest assured that my DVR system has been hard at work ever since the movies
began airing in October.
In years past, I have recorded the new movies, along with a
good many old favorites from years gone by, especially if the new movie is a
“next chapter” of one from previous years.
This year, however, there have been very few of the Christmas movies,
which I’ve recorded, that have an original air date that is not 2019.
I’m not sure if it because Hallmark is celebrating their 10th
Anniversary of the Christmas Movie lineup, or just the vast popularity of those
movies, but this year the number of new movies has been some (, my husband, to
be exact) might call extreme or ridiculous, not me though.
Now let me just put this out there, so there’s no
misunderstanding; I’m the type of person that can watch a good Christmas movie
even on the 4th of July, especially a new one that I haven’t seen
yet. That being said, I’m not sure how
long it will take me to watch all of the new Christmas movies that I’ve
recorded this year.
Each year when the holiday season approaches and they begin
to advertise the new movies that are awaiting me, I make sure to record the
preview show, but I also Google for the complete lineup because the preview
shows only highlight a few of the new movies that will be shown. This year my eyes practically bugged out when
I saw how many new movies there would be.
To date, I have scheduled 68 new movies to record and only
about three old-time favorites. There
are at least 15 more on my list that are currently too far out in the future to
be on the guide listings. That’s more
than 80 new Christmas movies for 2019. I
noticed that there is also a long list (at least 15-20) of new Christmas movies
on a channel that Ricky and I can’t even view due to our satellite
offerings. Bummer! From the titles of those movies I know that
I’m missing out on some really good movies.
🙁
So, if you should discover that I’m still talking about
Christmas when Mother’s Day rolls around, you’ll know that I’m still plowing
through the plethora of Christmas movies that I am currently in the process of
recording. Then there’s always the fact
that Hallmark network has even started doing a “Christmas in July” event that
lasts the entire month of July, at least they did this year. With the Christmas movies starting back in
October, I’ll be humming Christmas songs all year long. (Ricky would ask, “And that’s different,
how?)
