Heartlite Hospice Care will host a memorial service on Tuesday, October 24 from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM on the Square in Downtown Scottsboro. The event is to memorialize he lives of patients lost in the past year. Please mark your calendars for this annual event. It is open to the families, caregivers, and community. We would love to see you there. This year’s memorial event will be an outdoor trail along the sidewalk of luminaries in front of the Heartlite Hospice Care office. Therefore, if there is rain the reschedule date is Thursday, October 26, same time, same place. At this year’s event, Mr. Joel Shiflett will begin reading the names of our deceased patients at 7:00 PM. The names read will include all patients under the care of Heartlite Hospice Care that passed away between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2023. A memorial service is a ceremony for memorializing someone who has passed away and it takes place after the body has been buried or cremated. Memorial services can take place at any time after the death, from a week to a year or sometimes even longer. The candle symbolizes light in the darkness of life especially individual life, illuminations; it is the symbol of holy illumination of the spirit of truth. Lit in times of death, they signify the light in the next world, and they represent Christ as the light. For more information call 256-259-1754.
