The win streak is still going strong in Fyffe, AL, as the Red Devils continue to knock off opponents in their high-scoring fashion. Fyffe defeated North Sand Mountain 42-14 and stretched their win streak to 51 consecutive wins. The Red Devils set up a scoring drive first and capped it off with Kyle Dukes punching in a touchdown from 1 yard out to get the Red Devils on the board. The defense helped set up the next touchdown as Owen Blackwell intercepted a pass and gave the ball right back to the offense. Five plays later, Brody Hicks ran in from 4-yards out for the second touchdown of the night plus an additional two points. NSM tried to create a drive, but a penalty overtook their momentum, and the first quarter ended along with their drive. Fyffe opened up the second quarter by chipping away at the yardage and leaving it up to Dukes again to score from 7-yards out to stretch the lead to 22-0. NSM saw success on their next drive and pieced a seven-play drive, including a defensive penalty to get down to the Fyffe 9-yard line but couldn’t convert on third and fourth down and turned the ball back over. Dukes broke free from the defense and ran in the endzone from 80-yards out to give the Red Devils a 29-0 halftime lead.
Out of the break, Will Stephens ran for a 10-yard touchdown, then after Will Edge intercepted a pass, Stephens ran in for his second touchdown of the night from 7-yards out for a 42-0 Red Devil cushion. As the second string for the Red Devils began to take over, NSM scored when Alex Luna ran in for a 6-yard touchdown plus one. The Red Devils were forced to punt on their next drive, and the Bison answered with a Kayden Gilley 48-yard touchdown return to cut the deficit to 42-14. Despite the punts in the fourth quarter, the Red Devils put up 416 total yards on offense and were led by Dukes with three touchdowns and 163 yards. Luna ran for 67 yards on nine carries, while Hank Farmer had a team-high 92 yards on ten carries. Freshman Landon Keller completed 12-of-20 passes for 83 yards, with Mason Smith catching four passes for 17 yards.
On Friday night, the Bison take on a region match with Whitesburg Christian Academy at Madison County Middle School in Gurley. The Red Devils travel to Geraldine to defend their region’s standing and their undefeated streak.
