The Jackson County Commission approved either resurfacing or performing pavement preservation to four Jackson County roads during the August 9, 2021, Jackson County Commission meeting. These road improvement projects are made possible through funds from the Rebuild Alabama Act and the Federal Exchange Funds. Jackson County’s portion of the Rebuild Alabama Act is $800,000.00, and its portion of the Federal Exchange Funds program is $400,000.00. One commissioner stated that they would look at other road projects when they create the 2022 budget.
During the meeting, the Commission approved the following items:
•Purchase of two Mack Trucks with side loader for the Solid Waste Department
•Absorption of duties of the current Ship Coordinator/Transit Clerk to the Duties of SeniorX Coordinator as SeniorX/Ship Coordinator at the Council on Aging and adjust the job description accordingly
•Creation of a full-time Transportation/COA Clerk position at the Council on Again and adjust the job description accordingly
•Shoreline Stabilization Project at the Council on Aging in partnership with the City of Scottsboro for a total cost of $39,235.00 (The County’s portion is $19,617.00)
•Job description changes and pay classification for Maintenance Superintendent at the Public Works Department
•Job description changes for Maintenance Supervisor at the Public Works Department
•Job description changes for Shop Supervisor at the Public Works Department
•FY 2022 Senior RX Contract with TARCOG
•Rebuild Alabama Project Selection of County Road 96 and County Road 83 for FY 2022
•Federal Exchange Funds Project Selection of County Road 75 and County Road 88A for FY 2022
•Purchase of one HVAC Unit at the Council on Aging Building
•Hiring Committee’s recommendation for vacant Assistant Motor Vehicle Supervisor with the Revenue Commissioner’s Office Tag and Title Department
The next meeting will be on August 30, 2021.
