By Kelsey Prose The Pisgah Eagles have been known for their high-scoring abilities during this season, but they produced their second lowest score of the season on Friday night. However, it didn’t matter as the Eagles defense stepped up and held region competition Ider scoreless until the fourth quarter. The Eagles earned another region victory as they defeated the Ider Hornets at Pisgah’s home stadium 28-6. Pisgah earned a 16-0 lead in the first quarter on Legion McCrary’s 20-yard touchdown run plus the extra two and Mason Holcomb’s 49-yard touchdown pass to Grant Smith and another McCrary two-point conversion. Pisgah’s defense was given their first opportunity to step up as they held the Hornets twice on fourth down in the second quarter to maintain their lead heading into the break. Pisgah set up a 12-play 83-yard scoring drive in the third quarter to push their lead to three scores. Again, on fourth down, the Eagles defense intercepted a pass to avoid the Hornets from scoring a touchdown deep in Eagle territory. The Hornets scored their lone touchdown when Pisgah fumbled the ball. Matt Norman rushed in from 3-yards out with 3:37 left in the game. The Eagles punched one more touchdown in from Parker Law to set the fate of the game. McCrary had 162 yards on 16 carries for Pisgah, while Law ran for 37 yards on eight carries. Holcomb finished 7-of-10 passing for 151 yards while Hendricks caught two passes for 51 yards. Hunter Robinson finished with 62 yards on 18 carries for Ider, while Norman had 61 yards on 15 carries. Pisgah (4-3, 3-1) looks to secure their playoff berth and continue their winning streak as they take on Section (4-3, 2-3) on Friday night at Section High School.
