It was a night for the books as the Pisgah Eagles celebrated their first victory of the season, 2021 Homecoming, and a new offensive record. The Eagles defeated Whitesburg Christian 56-14 on Friday night and improved their record to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in Class 2A Region 7 play. Pisgah’s 56 points scored is the most points a Pisgah team has scored in a game since 1999 with 63 points scored over Ider. Pisgah got on the board first after JD Martin’s fumble recovery set up Parker Law’s 10-yard touchdown run plus Fox Tinker’s two-point conversion for the 8-0 lead. Rhyan Barrett rushed in the endzone from 3-yards out and Tinker tacked on another two points to give the Eagles a 16-0 lead. Levi Arnold picked off a Warrior pass which gave way to Legion McCrary’s 34-yard touchdown run and Law added the additional two points as the Eagles padded the 24-0 lead. Whitesburg Christian cut the deficit to 24-6 in the second quarter, but the Eagles weren’t done yet. Tinker ran for a 45-yard touchdown and a 1-yard run to set Pisgah up for a halftime lead at 38-6. The second half saw touchdowns from McCrary (18 yards), Jacob Kirby (7 yards), and Luke Gilbert (9 yards) to seal the win for the Eagles. Pisgah will host DAR on Friday night for a non-region game.
