Cross country teams are ending their seasons, and on October 8, area teams from DeKalb and Jackson Counties met in Pisgah at ToKnowHim Trails to compete. Pisgah won both the girls and boys 5000 meter run with Nevaeh Evans coming in second place (23:18.42), Kayana Stewart coming in third place (24:04.81), and Rhylee Bell coming in fourth place (24:29.38).
Pisgah girls rounded out the top six spots while lone Plainview runner Jaxson Bruce (22:56.00) came in first place overall. First season Plainview girls came in third place as a team with Bruce in first, Lyda Smith in 17th (28:25.74), and Maria Garcia at 21st (29:43.24).
Sylvania girls came in second place as a team and had top finishers Molly Par in 7th place (25:08.85), Kirby Wisner in 9th place (25:45.06), and Jonna Graham at 10th place (26:08.18). Section girls came in fourth place overall, with top finishers Kerby Brooks coming in at 12th place (26:50.90), Taylor Bell in 13th place (26:52.23), and Ava Barnes in at 22nd place (29:56.80).
Geraldine High School’s girls team came in fifth place overall with top finishers Sloan Rodriguez at 16th place (28:18.79), Sophie Bearden at 32nd place (31:58.61), and Karissa Brock at 33rd place (31:59.00). North Sand Mountain and Skyline competed as well.
Pisgah boys team won first place overall with top finishers Tristan Little at 2nd place (18:51.89), Mason Overdear at 4th place (20:08.02), and Bob Johnson in at 5th place (20:37.46). Plainview boys came in second place overall and had top finishers, Alex Smith, in 6th place (20:56.24), Ephan Benjume at 7th place (21:24.19), and Jon Mathis Arnold at 11th place (21:59.44).
Fyffe High School came in third place overall for the boys, with Dawson J. McCollum coming in at 3rd place (19:53.56), Nathaniel Baugh in at 13th place (22:13.32), and Will Ridgeway in at 16th place (22:39.92).
Section came in fourth place overall with top finishers Jonah Gurley finishing in 9th place (21:45.64), Isaiah Thomas in 29th place (25:01.00), and Matthew Wooten in 37th place (25:51.00). Geraldine rounded out the top five, with Jesse Rider finishing in 31st place (25:21.00), Aiden Windham at 41st place (26:05.00), and Jacob Curruth in 45th place (26.24.00).
NSM, Skyline, Woodville, North Jackson, and Ider had runners as well.
