By Cinthia Rico SCOTTSBORO – Five Jackson County teams performed at the 2023 Scottsboro Invitational at the John R. Esslinger Trail of Champions last Saturday.
In the 5000-meter run races, athletes from Pisgah High School and Scottsboro High School placed among the top 15.
In the Small School Boys 5000 Meter Run, Pisgah’s Tristan Little posted a 17:14.82 for a 2nd place finish, Emanuel Elizondo took 9th place with a time of 18:52.06, Layne Howell finished with a time of 18:58.61 in 11th and Section’s Leo Chaparro finished in 13th place with a time of 19:09.69.
In the Small School Girls 5000 Meter Run, Pisgah’s Nevaeh Evan posted a time of 21:42.84 for a 2nd place finish, Katie Edwards posted a time of 24:14.69 in 17th place, and Section’s Jayden Lankford posted a time of 24:23.44 for a 19th place finish.
Skyline’s Katie Roach (26:31.59) posted a 30th place finish in the Small School Girls 5000 Meter Run; Brylon Davis (22:39.81) finished in 55th place in the Small School Boys 5000 Meter Run.
North Sand Mountain’s Paisley Pritchett (24:50.71) placed 21st place in the Small School Girls 5000 Meter Run, and Noah Holland (21:46.82) finished in 41st in the Small School Boys 5000 Meter Run.
In the Large School Boys 5000 Meter Run, Scottsboro’s Hamilton Richardson posted a 16:10.83 for a 2nd place finish, while teammates Brady Strickland (17:07.46) and Ryder Linville (17:10.01) finished in 15th and 16th place.
In the JV boys 2 Mile Run Scottsboro took nine of the top 15 spots including the following: Kayden Price (12:25.35) in 2nd, Cash Osbourne (12:27.34) in 3rd, Miles Hodges (12:31.80) in 4th, Sam Thomas Roney (12:38.59) in 5th, Ismael Felix (12:50.60) in 6th, Austin Roberts (13:03.29) 7th, Hunt Holland (13:13.40) in 11th, Max Basila (13:29.04) in 12th and Cade Breland (13:47.41) in 15th.
In the Large School Girls 5000 Meter Run, Scottsboro’s Ally Campbell posted a 19:43.08 for a 6th place finish, Banks Bradford (20:39.07) finished in 10th, Mia Martin (20:43.48) finished in 12th, Reese Avenel (20:47.76) in 13th and Smith Bradford (21:00.14) in 14th place.
In the JV girls 2 Mile Run, Scottsboro’s Lauren Tubbs (15:10.17) finished in 4th, Asdyn Gamble (16:18.04) in 11th, and Amber Shelton (16:29.61) in 12th.
Scottosboro’s JV Boys Team secured a first-place finish with 20 points, while Scottsboro’s JV Girls placed 2nd overall with 62 points behind Hewitt-Trussville with 19 points.
