The North Jackson Chiefs host 7-on-7 Tournament. In his first offseason as the head football coach of the North Jackson Chiefs, Chandler Tygard, is wasting no time.
Tygard has
been working his team hard, while at the same time hosting events to engage
with the community and promote the program. On Tuesday, the Chiefs hosted a
7-on-7 tournament that featured North Jackson, Section, Sylvania, Geraldine and
Whitwell, Tennessee.
“The 7-on-7
went really well,” said Tygard. “It was a five-game round robin style, and then
we played an extra game with Geraldine.”
Coach Tygard
is happy with the improvements his squad has made, but he sees areas that still
need work.
“Both of our
quarterbacks have progressed but need to hone in on making the correct coverage
and progression reads,” said Tygard. “Our wide receivers need to do a much
better job of catching contested balls. We preach that any ball in the air
belongs to us.”
The Chiefs head coach has also seen his defense make strides this summer.
“Defensively we have looked great considering 7-on-7s are geared towards offense. Our man coverage technique is on schedule, and we are a big man-to-man team.”
