Bum Pickins Week #6
Well, I am back among the living after the ole stomach virus
got me down last week. I want to thank ole Ethel for filling in for me last
week. I know she don’t know squat about football, but she did ok! The big
winner of pickers last week was Brother T. His record of 11-2 led the pack.
Even with that ole virus keeping me occupied, I managed to get myself into a
four-way tie for the week with Monk the Skunk, Bubba, and Tricky Nicky. Amazing
Amie came in at 9-4 (Not too amazing if you ask me), and then there was another
tie. Sherri the Berry, Sister Ginger, and Ole Man Rich all scored 8-5. Steele
may have to change his name to putty when it comes to pickin because he went
7-6. Anyway, the Ole Guru is about to
pull away and finish strong for the last half. On to last week’s games.
Ole Bum told you that Etowah was just a little much for the Wildcats of Fort Payne. Etowah got the win 26-20. The Big Red Machine of Fyffe put up 35 points in the first half of the game with Plainview. They decided to shorten the game in the second half to 6 minute quarters. Thank you, Fyffe!! The Eagles of Pisgah tamed the Lions of Section 44-7. Head of the Valley took the sting out of Ider with a 42-21 win! Springville sprung one on Crossville 44-14 and Sardis took the bite out of the Bulldogs of Geraldine 19-14. Scottsboro drained the swamp of North Jackson 33-0, and the Rams of Sylvania herded up the Bison of North Sand Mountain 43-36. In the college ranks, the Tigers of Auburn clawed the Bulldogs of Mississippi State 56-23, and the Tide washed away the shark attack of Ole Mississippi 59-31. Ohio St. shucked the Cornhuskers of Nebraska 48-7 and Clemson slipped by on the Tar Hills of North Carolina 21-20. South Carolina turned out the Roosters on the Wildcats of Kentucky 24-7.
This week the Pirates of Boaz will capture a Lion at
Crossville as they win 41-12. The Bulldogs of Geraldine will pluck the Eagles
of Pisgah 31-14. The Hornets of Ider will swarm the Rams of Asbury 38-10. The
Red Devils of Fyffe will roll the Rock as they beat Sand Rock 41-14. The Rams
of Sylvania will be King of the Mountain as they defeat the Lions of Brindle
Mountain 48-7. The Lions of Section will be no match for the Panthers of
Collinsville as Collinsville wins 45-10. The Wildcats of Fort Payne will
surround and capture the Lee Generals 31-7. Head of the Valley will chop down
Woodville 24-7, and the Chiefs of North Jackson will be on the warpath as they
beat Fairview 24-21. Scottsboro will take over neighboring Madison County
34-14, and the Bison of North Sand Mountain will trample the Tigers of Cedar
Bluff 28-21. The Tigers of Auburn will be selling Gator Hide purses as they
defeat Florida 31-17, and Georgia will keep the Tennessee Rumor Mill churning
with a 31-7 win over Tennessee.
Well, that about wraps it up for this week. I will be back
at the games this week, so save me a spot by the fence!! The Ole Guru Bum!!!
