Bum Pickins Week #4
Well, it’s hard to believe that we are already in week four
which means five weeks into football season.
It was tough pickin this week, lots uf upsets. I am setting
at 31-9 on the year, right where I need to be. Monk the Shunk is leading at
33-7. I ain’t too worried about him; he always falls apart at the end. The ole
Guru just gets stronger!!! Tricky
Nicky did ok for the week, but he will be dragging behind in just a few
weeks! The Stevenson Mayor got lucky as he was top pick
for the week at 13-2. He still can’t catch the Guru. Bridgeport Mayor Bubba and
Mr. T are in last place at 27-13. Bubba needs to stick to Mayoring!!! Mr. T
needs to get in contact with Gameday for some help. Sherri Berry is sitting at
28-12! It’s going to be a long year for her, maybe she and some uf her friends
can see Downtown Abbey and get her mind off football!!! The Rich Man might want
to think about paying someone to help him pick! Sister Ginger might want to go
to the movies with Sherri Berry!!! Lastly the Lawman got so tore up he just
quit. Well, that is enough about that, let’s talk some football!
The Lions uf Crossville got their first win uf the season
over Douglas 24-7. Geraldine took Brindle Mtn. to the woodshed 64-6. The Lions
uf Section had a sneak attack on Ider 12-0.
Cedar Bluff rolled the Rock in overtime 14-7. Susan Moore had their way
with Plainview 38-14. The Rams uf Sylvania lit up the scoreboard as they
defeated Gaston 52-0. In the game uf the year, it was just like any other Fyffe
game; it stays close in the first half, then it is all Fyffe in the second
half. Fyffe 24 Collinsville 3! Fort
Payne jumped out to a big lead, then had to hang on for dear life with a 31-30
win over Mae Jemison! New Hope has renewed hope, after all, getting by Pisgah
33-32. Head uf the Valley pulled the upset uf the week with a 32-7 win over
Falkville!! Scottsboro showed
Guntersville why they are down the river with a 42-14 win!! North Jackson
unleashed the Chief and flaming Spear and got a 57-31 win over DAR!! NSM trampled over Asbury 44-0. Auburn got a
55-16 win over Kent St. and Bama plucked the chickens uf South Carolina 47-23.
After some big games
last week, this looks to be an off week! Ider will travel down to Collinsville.
The Panthers are not happy with the way they played at Fyffe. Look for
Collinsville to have their way against Ider 31-7. Fyffe travels to Asbury.
Asbury wishes Fyffe was traveling somewhere else! Fyffe wins 58-0! Pisgah took
a tough loss at New Hope last week. This week they will take a tough loss at
Pisgah, losing to Boaz 28 to 21! The
Head uf the Valley hopes not to have the Team uf the Week Jinx. It will take
more than a jinx for Gaylesville to beat Head uf the Valley!
Head uf the Valley wins 31-14! Section got a big win last week. It’s a good
thing because they get a big loss this week! Cedar Bluff wins over Section
41-17. Crossville got their first win last week! It will be a while before they
get their second win. Alexandria wins 48-14 over Crossville. Geraldine won big
last week. This week it will be closer, but Geraldine gives New Hope no hope
with a 38-21 win. NSM travels to the Sand Rock. They will need to score an
extra 14 points if they want to win this game. Sunshine will give NSM the
points they need as they defeat Sand Rock 34-20. The Rams travel to Plainview.
The Rams got a big win over Gaston scoring 52 points. They won’t score 52 this
week, but they will score enough to win! Sylvania wins 21-14. St. John Paul
travels to North Jackson this week. They better pray North Jackson’s offense is
not on track after the Chiefs scored 57 points last week. Bum says North
Jackson scores 41 and gets the win 41-21. Woodville got the win last week. This
week is a different story! Appalachian wins 24-7. Scottsboro travels to East
Limestone. They will have revenge on their mind after the loss last year. Bum
thinks they get it!! Scottsboro wins 31-21.
The Bulldogs uf Georgia host Notre Dame! Ain’t no team from up yonder
going to beat Georgia? Georgia wins 37-24. The Auburn Tigers are 3-0. That
don’t mean much. It is SEC Play now. They travel to Texas AM. Bum says this
will be close, but Auburn takes its first loss uf the season. Texas AM wins
24-17. Bama will be hosting Southern Mississippi. It will take more than the
southern part of Mississippi to beat the Tide. Bama wins 48-12.
Well, that about does it for this week. Ethal has been canning soup for three weeks now. I am sick uf seeing soup. Save me a spot by the fence and save me a good ole fashion concession stand hamburger and fries. Until next week, the Pickin Guru Bum!!!!
