Scottsboro v Arab
The Scottsboro Wildcats continued to defend their home court as they held off Class 6A Area 15 rival Arab for a 69-62 victory on Friday, December 10. This was the Wildcats’ 20th consecutive home win at Hambrick Hall. Scottsboro (8-3, 2-1) led 19-13 at the end of the first quarter and built a 36-27 halftime lead. Tyson Sexton scored a game-high 25 points for Scottsboro, while Parker Bell and Seth Whitmire added 11 each.
Skyline v Woodville
Skyline downed Woodville 60-44 after the Vikings outscored the Panthers 16-6 in the fourth quarter on Friday, December 10. Skyline secured another Class 1A Area 15 victory as well as their seventh straight victory. The game was tied at 17-all after the first quarter, but Skyline (8-2, 3-0) took the 32-30 edge at halftime and continued to lead 44-38 after three quarters. Chase Bickers scored a game-high 23 points for the Vikings, while Logan Evans scored 16 points and Bryant Kennamer added 10 points.
Woodville’s Damien Benson scored 14 points, Garrett Copeland added 13, and Caleb Dolberry had 10 points.
North Sand Mountain v Pisgah
No. 3-ranked North Sand Mountain defeated Pisgah by leading 32-9 after the first quarter on their way to an 88-56 Class 2A Area 15 win on Friday, December 10. NSM (8-1, 2-1) dominated the 55-21 halftime lead while Chandler Sullivan showed out with a double-double of 22 points and 24 rebounds for NSM. Derek Bearden brought in 21 points, and Nyle Poore added 14.
Jake Hendricks scored 19 points, and Rhyan Barrett and Jakob Kirby had 12 points each for Pisgah (5-5, 1-2).
Section v Ider
The No. 2-ranked Section Lions remained undefeated in Class 2A Area 15 play after defeating Ider 74-42 on Friday, December 10. Section led 16-5 after the first quarter and built a 37-20 halftime advantage. Alex Guinn scored 16 points, and Logan Patterson added 15 for Section.
Austin Shirley scored 15 points for Ider (5-6, 0-3), while Jesse Massey and Branson Durham added nine apiece.
North Jackson v New Hope
On Friday, December 10, North Jackson lost a hard-fought battle to New Hope 62-58. The Chiefs trailed 10-9 after the first quarter but led 26-23 at halftime. However, New Hope took back the 42-40 lead as they headed into the fourth quarter. Zeke Ballard scored 23 points, and Preston Miller added 14 for the Chiefs.
Section v Winfield
On Saturday, December 11, the Section Lions took their first loss of the season to Class 3A Winfield in the Domino’s Classic in Rainsville. Section shot just 27 percent from the field and never held the lead in their 72-51 loss. Alex Guinn scored 14 points, and Jacob Cooper added 13 points for the Lions (9-1).
Section v Westminster Christian
On Monday, December 13, the Lions lost to Class 4A No. 8-ranked Westminster Christian 61-29. Section trailed 20-12 after the first quarter and 29-19 at halftime. Westminster Christian held the Lions to 10 second-half points and outscored the Lions 15-2 in the final quarter.
Pisgah v Geraldine
Pisgah snuck away with a win against Class 3A No. 8-ranked Geraldine for an 84-83 win on Monday, December 13. Pisgah (6-5) led 28-16 at the end of the first quarter and built a 55-43 halftime lead. Jakob Kirby scored a game-high 28 points for the Eagles, while Rhyan Barrett had 18 points and Jake Hendricks had 16 points.
Connor Johnson scored 24 points for Geraldine (7-3).
