The Bison bounced back last week in a commanding 40-14 win over county foe Section. Landon Keller opened up scoring, connecting with Nyle Poore for a North Sand Mountain touchdown early in the first quarter. Jackson Burgess kicked a good PAT making it 7-0. On their next possession, the Bison marched 74 yards behind 10 plays setting up Keller’s 21-yard scoring pass to Blake Hill. NSM offense continued pushing behind Keller’s good arm as he added two touchdown passes in the second frame, of 34 and one more than 20 yards, building a cushion 28-0 lead at intermission. Entering the second half, the Lions came out with tremendous efforts as Cameron Summerford broke free for a 6-yard touchdown and Jaylan McCarver executed a good 2-point conversion early in the third. The Bisons answered as Keller found Farmer on a 34-yard touchdown pass making it 34-6. With seconds left of the third quarter, Moore punched in NSM’s final touchdown on a 39-yard scoring run. Section’s McCarver closed out by scoring on a 6-yard touchdown run late in the final frame, making it 40-14. Moore led NSM with 70 rushing yards on five carries, catching two passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Kayden Gilley rushed for 47 yards on 10 carries, and Hank Farmer captured two passes for 63 yards and rushed 33 yards on six carries and a touchdown. Landon Keller completed 8-of-12 passes for 217 yards and five touchdowns for NSM. Blake Hill caught three passes for 42 yards, and Nyle Poore caught one pass for 53 yards and a touchdown. With the loss, Section (1-8, 1-6) closed out playoff hopes. Section finished with 224 total yards. McCarver rushed for 69 yards on 15 carries and completed two passes for 17 yards for the Lions. Summerford ran for 78 yards on 12 carries, and Jr. Walker tallied 33 yards on eight carries. NSM host Collinsville (6-2, 4-2) today to determine the Class 2A, Region 7 No. 3 and No. 4 seeds.
