By Kelsey Prose The Pisgah Eagles may have started the season a little slow, but as the middle of the schedule approaches, teams start to get hungry, and the Eagles have been chowing down on the points. Last week, the Eagles broke a 22-year-old school record for the most points scored in a Pisgah game, only to break it again this week in their overwhelming 58-28 victory over non-region DAR. The Patriots were the first to score, but the Eagles responded with a touchdown of their own plus an extra two to take the 8-7 lead. DAR mishandled a snap on their next punt and gave the Eagles field position inside the red zone, where Parker Law punched in a 10-yard touchdown and gave the Eagles a 14-7 lead. Jacob Kirby came down with an interception on the next possession, which led to Pisgah’s next touchdown when Mason Holcomb found Luke Gilbert to give the Eagles the 22-7 lead. DAR strung together a five-play scoring drive that was capped by a 50-yard touchdown reception. The Eagles wouldn’t be outdone and responded with a three-play scoring drive to take the 30-14 lead into halftime. Freshman Legion McCrary started the second half with the kickoff returned for a touchdown, and both teams traded touchdowns throughout the third quarter. The final frame featured Pisgah’s defense and two more touchdowns to prohibit any chance of a comeback. Holcomb finished with 110 yards and two touchdowns while McCrary led the rushers with 126 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns. The Pisgah Eagles look to keep up this pace as they head into their region matchups starting this Friday by visiting North Sand Mountain (2-3).
