The Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce hosted the Thirty-Fifth Annual All-County Academic Banquet on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Scottsboro Goose Pond Civic Center. The chamber recognized twenty-eight seniors representing all seven high schools located in Jackson County for their outstanding academic achievements throughout their high school careers. Each student was presented with a plaque to commemorate the night. Stacey Ledwell, Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce Chairman, welcomed all present and introduced Ms. Josephine Smith, the original director of the event. Ms. Smith reminisced about the first banquet and explained how it came into being. Chasley Bellomy, Event Planning and Alumni Relations Director for Northeast Alabama Community College (NACC), was the guest speaker. Several community sponsors contributed to the event to make it a special night for the honorees. Unclaimed Baggage Center served as the Presenting Sponsor. Gold Sponsors were, Redstone Federal Credit Union, and Scottsboro Electric Power Board. Silver Sponsors included Dr. Charles R. Bradford IV, Dr. Charles R. Bradford III, and Section Pharmacy. The Table Sponsors were Maples Industries, Inc. and Scottsboro Funeral Home.
