NORTH JACKSON DELIVERS HOMECOMING BLOWOUT WIN OVER DAR
Story By Cinthia Rico
North Jackson closed regional play with a dominating 60-7 homecoming victory over Kate Duncan Smith last Friday night at R.D. Hicks Stadium in Stevenson. The Chiefs big night started early as Jonathan Linderman recovered the opening kick and Cardarius Ringer’s 34-yard rush set up Nick Jernigan’s scoring run. Late in the quarter, Jernigan recorded his second touchdown of the night. North Jackson continued its momentum furthering its early lead as Ringer intercepted a DAR pass following a CJ Smith tackle. A few plays later Ringer rushed for an 18-yard scoring run, also adding a 2-point conversion. DAR’s lone score came as Bolt connected with Cash Rogers on a 37-yard touchdown late in the second quarter and the North Jackson defense continued to hold them. The Chiefs set the pace for the rest of the game early in the first half leading 28-7 at intermission thanks to a Smith fumble recovery, a Ringer 3-yard scoring run, and a Wil Sims successful 2-point conversion. North Jackson’s offense hit the field with a 70-yard drive, capped with Holt recording two second-half touchdowns and two successful 2-point conversions. Ringer added his third scoring drive following a 43-yarder rush. In the final quarter, Sims ran for 12-yard and 3-yard touchdowns en route to a 60-7 blowout win. North Jackson recorded a season-high 437 yards, improving to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the region. Ringer led the Chiefs with 217 yards and three touchdowns on 22 attempts. Holt finished with 109 yards and a score on 15 carries, while Jernigan and Sims added a touchdown each and a combined 111 yards, respectively. North Jackson caps its 2022 season Friday against Pisgah (7-2, 6-1). The matchup will be the first between the two.
