Section routed Ider 28-19 in a dominating homecoming performance last Friday night, capturing its first win of the season. With the win, the Lions improve to 1-6 overall. Ider capitalized on Section turnovers putting together a 13-0 first-half lead. The Lions answered with Jaylan McCarver’s 18-yard touchdown run and a successful 2-point conversion cutting the score 13-8 at intermission. On the Lions’ first possession of the second half, Connor Sronvi leaped for a 6-yard touchdown pass. A few plays later, Brayden Williams caught an 18-yard 2-point conversion pass for a scoring drive. Section continued its offensive efforts, adding Jr. Walker’s 53-yard touchdown run. Well into the final frame, Sronvi recovered an Ider fumble, driving it to the 19-yard line. Cameron Summerford took advantage and rushed for a 4-yard touchdown run extending Section’s lead to 28-13 late in the fourth quarter. Ider rallied as Dylan Grant connected with Zion Finnerty on a 37-yard pass, setting up Smith’s 11-yard scoring run, and a failed 2-point conversion ended scoring. McCarver finished with a career-high 110 yards on 13 carries, one touchdown, and 3 of 4 passes for 59 yards for Section. Walked had 90 yards on nine carries, Summerford went 50 yards on nine carries, and Williams finished with 29 yards on eight carries, an interception and a fumble recovery. On Friday, Section travels to Whitesburg Christian Academy (3-3) for a Class 2A, Region 7 game.
