Scottsboro fell to Arab 28-7 despite offensive efforts in the Class 5A, Region 7 matchup Friday night at the Arab City Schools Sports Complex.
Ben Kirby recovered an Arab fumble setting up a 76-yard scoring drive for the Wildcats. Keelan Alvarez rushed for a 17-yard touchdown, and Cole Rauchle’s extra point gave Scottsboro (2-2,1-1) the lead late in the first quarter.
The Knights rallied from an early deficit in the second quarter, adding 14 points on the scoreboard. Arab used a 12-play, 78-yard drive to tie the game with 10:26 left in the second quarter on Drake Franklin’s 2-yard touchdown run and Aiden Wooten’s PAT.
At the half, Arab led 14-6.
The Knights then extended their lead by rushing for their third TD of the night. Cox threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Spencer Strickland touchdown pass just 38 seconds in the third quarter.
Arab closed the scoring on another 2-yard touchdown run from Franklin and handed Scottsboro a 28-7.
Alvarez finished with 80 rushing yards on 13 carries for Scottsboro. Jake Jones rushed for 59 yards on 11 carries while also completing 6 of 8 passes for 67 yards.
The Wildcats took to rebound as they host Priceville for a non-region matchup at 7 p.m. on Friday at Trammell Stadium (5-0). The two teams have never met on the field before.
