No. 4-ranked Pisgah routed Ider (2-3) in a 42-10 victory in a Class 2A, Region 7 play at Wayne C. Hartman Stadium last Friday night. With the win, Pisgah improves to (4-0), their first since 2003. Pisgah secured an early lead when Mason Holcomb connected with Luke Gilbert for a 58-yard touchdown pass. Dalton Johnson kicked a good PAT. Later in the quarter Jakob Kirby ran for a 16-yard touchdown and another Johnson kick to cap the frame 14-0. The Eagles continued their offensive efforts with a Fox Tinger 14-yard touchdown run and a good PAT. Legion McCrary added another TD rushing 25 yards and kicking a successful point after. Holcomb captured Pisgahs’ fifth touchdown of the first half when he found Grant Smith for a 33-yard touchdown pass and a good PAT. In the third, Jett Jeffery broke free for a 10-yard touchdown and a successful kick, extending Pisgah’s advantage to 42-0. The Hornets recorded a safety in the final frame, and Zion Finnerty returned a kickoff 49 yards for a touchdown. Benjamin Smith executed a successful two-point conversion cutting the score 42-10. Dylan Grant completed 1 of 3 passes for 10 yards for Ider. The Hornets finished with 149 total offensive yards to Pisgahs’ 538 yards. McCrary led the Eagles with 127 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Holcomb went 6 of 8 passing for 141 yards, two scores, and an interception, Gilbert completed three passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, and Jeffery added 81 yards and a touchdown. Pisgah looks to improve to 5-0 as they host Sylvania (3-1) for a non-region game on Friday. The last time the two met in 2019, the Rams won 55-24.
