Scottsboro High School recently held its Scottsboro Invitational at John R. Esslinger Trail of Champions.
Scottsboro’s Evan Hill, a senior, highlighted the varsity boys’ large school race with a third-place finish time of 15:52.41.
Junior Stephen Jones posted a 16:15.47 to take fifth place, and Hamilton Richardson clocked in at 16:38.40 in 11th place.
The Wildcats team placed third overall with 69 points, behind Hewitt-Trussville High school and James Clemens.
In the varsity girls’ large school race, Cambree Bradford finished 10th, clocking in at 20:15.47. Ally Campbell took 11th with a time of 20:32.73.
Scottsboro’s girls’ team placed third overall with 83 points, behind Hewitt-Trussville High school and James Clemens.
Pisgah’s Tristan Little clocked in at 18:25.88 for a fifth-place finish in the varsity boys’ small school race.
Mason Overdear took 11th place with a 19:24.27, followed by Brodie Ferguson in 12th with a 19:29.07 finish.
Section’s Leo Chaparro clocked in at 21:21.25 taking 33rd place and Woodville’s Trent Hillis posted a 26:03.55, finishing 68th, while Skyline’s Nathan Palmieri took 70th place with a 26:53.09.
The Eagles team placed third overall with 76 points, and Section took 8th with 207 team points.
In the varsity girls’ small school race, Pisgah’s Kayana Stewart clocked in at 24:07.25 for an 18th place finish, and Katie Edwards posted 24:22.19 taking 20th place.
Pisgah’s team took third place overall with 108 points, and with 196 points Section took 8th place.
Scottsboro’s Will Paradise clocked in at 12:41.45 in the JV boys’ 2-mile race posting in fourth place.
Ryder Linville finished 8th with a 12:51.27 time, Patton Russell came in at 12:55.06 for a 10th place finish and Armando Camacho clocked in at 13:06.06, taking 12th.
Pisgah’s Will Gann posted a 13:40.43 time placing 33rd.
Scottsboro’s team captured the first-place finish with 50 points.
In the JV girls 2-mile race, Scottsboro’s Banks Bradford took second place with a 14:16.20 time behind Fort Payne’s Kyndal Hughes (13:32.50). Regan Epps clocked in at 15:18.52 for an 11th place finish, followed by Addison Joose with a 15:25.28 time in 13th place.
Pisgah’s Kerby Brooks posted a 16:05.56, placing 25th.
Scottsboro’s team took third place with 71 points behind Fort Payne (57) and Hewitt-Trussville Middle in first place with 40 points.
Looking ahead, Pisgah High School is hosting the 2022 Pisgah Invitationals at ToKnowHim Trails on Saturday, Sept. 3, featuring various Jackson, DeKalb, and surrounding area teams.
