Staff Reports Scottsboro downs Fort Payne 55-48, capturing the Class 6A, Area 15 Tournament championship during the area finals at Hambrick Hall. Jadaya Edmonson finished with 22 points, Audrey Holland added 16, and Lexie Bennett nine. Scottsboro pulled an early lead scoring 15 points in the first quarter for a 27-13 advantage at intermission. Edmonson netted 15 points in the second half, and Holland nine as the Wildcats continued advancing on Fort Payne, ending the game with 31 rebounds and six steals. Brylan Gay led Fort Payne with a game-high 23 points, and Graidin Haas had 10. Hazel Green defeated Fort Payne 73-16 during sub-regional play at Hazel Green. Scottsboro fell to Athens 51-45 during the Monday, February 14 sub-regional game at Hambrick Hall. Boys Scottsboro 60, Buckhorn 53 Scottsboro bested Buckhorn 60-53 with 34 rebounds, three steals and 12 assists, and 3-point shots from Blake Jones, Parker Bell, and Tyson Sexton during the game at New Market on Friday, February 14. The win marked the Wildcats’ fourth consecutive win. Scottsboro advanced to the sub-regional match against Columbia, that was played on Tuesday, February 15 at Scottsboro. – Editor’s note: The game was not completed before press time.
