The Section boys basketball team is still perfect even after battling another perfect team, North Sand Mountain and winning a Class 2A Area 15 victory 82-72. The Section Lions (7-0, 1-0) jumped out to a 29-17 first quarter lead and continued to extend their lead to 41-29 by halftime. Dominik Blair scored 17 points for Section, Jacob Cooper and Drake McCutchen added 12 each while Logan Patterson scored 11 points and Alex Guinn netted 10. Chandler Sullivan scored 26 points and Derek Bearden added 20 for NSM (6-1, 0-1).
Pisgah defeated Ider 61-53 for a Class 2A Area 15 win on Friday night. Pisgah (5-3, 1-1) led at all the quarter breaks but Ider fought back in the fourth quarter. Pisgah’s Jakob Kirby scored 13 points and Jake Hendricks added 12 while Rhyan Barrett earned nine and Legion McCrary added seven. Austin Shirley scored 18 points and Hunter Robinson added 17 points for the Hornets (5-3, 0-1).
The Woodville Panthers cruised to a Class 1A Area 13 65-26 victory over Gaylesville on Friday night. Woodville (2-4, 1-1) led 11-5 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 30-16 by halftime. Caleb Dolberry scored a game-high 19 points and Damien Benson pinched in 15 for the Panthers. Layden Bradley scored 12 points and Landen Bradley added nine for Gaylesville (1-3, 0-2).
Skyline defeated Sylvania 65-55 on Friday as they secured their sixth straight win over the Class 3A Rams. Skyline (7-2) trailed at the quarter breaks in the first half but took the lead 44-42 at the end of the third quarter. Weston Avans earned a game-high 26 points for the Vikings while Chase Bickers scored 19 points. Joshua Scott scored 18 points for the Rams (1-7).
