The Scottsboro Cross-Country teams showed up big in the Class 6A
Section 6 meet as both boys and girls runners clinched the top spot and repeated their section championship titles.
Sophomore Ally Campbell won the individual sectional title for the second straight year and set a personal record that blew her old time out of the water. Campbell recorded a 19:09.48 first-place finish, shaving off a whole 1:18 from her first-place finish last season.
Senior Maddie Gossett finished third (20:04.09), junior Emma Bradford was fifth (20:40.35), sophomore Smith Bradford was sixth (20:51.18), eighth-grader Mia Martin finished in eighth place (20:57.08), freshman Mabry Bonsall in ninth (20:58.72), freshman Cambree Bradford finished 11th (21:13.93), senior Lauren Paradise came in 13th (21:32.15), seventh-grader Banks Bradford in 16th (21:52.21) and junior Shelton Linville in 27th place (22:55.41).
Junior Evan Hill took the top spot with a time of 15:35.92 and helped Scottsboro boys post an almost perfect score. Senior Reese Bell finished second (16:05.99) while sophomore Stephen Jones was third (16:13.93), senior Rex Green fifth (16:16.68), senior Zach Avenel sixth (16:37.08), sophomore Hamilton Richardson 19th (17:25.94), senior Ridge Wells 21st (17:45.93), junior Josh Hill 24th (18:08.47), junior Cameron Estes 33rd (18:47.77) and freshman Mcgee Kilgore 36th (18:58.65).
Both teams will run for the 2021 AHSAA Cross Country Championships at Oakville Indian Mounds Park on Saturday, November 6. Scottsboro boys will run at 8:50 AM, while the girls will race at 9:50 AM.
