October is here with all that it brings. Cooler weather, beautiful colors, sweet treats, and scary opportunities. There are several ways to enjoy family time in calm, peaceful activities and some very scary, frightening possibilities as well, all in North Alabama. A few of those, taken from News Channel 19, are listed below. We will add more as more cities plan their events.
Art Mortis is the largest haunted attraction in North Alabama. It is located at 4051 US-72, Killen, AL. Scream your way through multiple scary scenarios, including an abandoned asylum with animatronics and the much more intense prison cell block with scare actors. Tickets range from $15 single to $55 packages.
Boos Cruise, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is for ages 21 and up (kid-friendly rides are available on request). Visitors pedal their way through downtown Huntsville while listening to scary ghost stories told by expert guides from Huntsville Ghost Walk and drinking spirits from local breweries. The tickets are $35 for a 90-minute tour.
Dooms Day, located at 24952 US 72 Athens, AL, is a creepy old town in the woods. It was federally quarantined after a large nuclear explosion, and whatever still lives back there has been cut off from the outside world for decades, or so the story goes. Visitors pay $20 to check it out on Friday and Saturday nights during October.
PV Slaughterhouse is located at 592 Sam Ellis Drive NW, Rainsville, AL. Scares start there Friday, October 1, from 7 pm until midnight. Language-wise this house provides family-friendly frights in an old abandoned slaughterhouse. This haunt is actor-oriented with no animatronics. If you want an even scarier experience, you can upgrade your ticket with a glow necklace that gives the scarers the power of touch. Tickets start at $15.
The Fright Guys-Harvest is a different type of experience, located at 302 W. Willow Street, Scottsboro, AL 35768. There are scares happening every Friday and Saturday from 6 pm until midnight. The Fright Guys want to give you an in-the-movie experience. Harvest is interactive as you become part of the story and try to survive the scare.
One other different type of fright is the Zombie Paintball at Grace Hill Farms in Athens, AL. It is located at 22611 Grace Hill Ln, Athens, AL. Each family-friendly ride lasts about 25 minutes. Tickets start at $25, and they open from 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm.
The Zombie Apocalypse has arrived, and your help is needed to save Grace Hill Farm! Join the zombie hunt in this interactive thrill ride that takes you deep into zombie-infested woods to test your survival skills.
