The North Jackson Chiefs set a precedent for scoring high in the first half of their games, intimidating their opponents, and opening the door for victory. Friday night, the Chiefs took a 34-0 halftime lead on their way to a 53-6 Class 4A Region 7 win over DAR in Stevenson.
North Jackson (2-1, 2-0) outgained DAR 297 total yards to the Patriot’s 61. Dalton Morris, NJP’s Player of the Week, performed perfectly on Friday night. The second quarter saw four touchdowns from the Chiefs; Myron Walton punched in one from 1-yard out and 6-yards out, Morris used his legs for a 13-yard run, and Cunningham received a 35-yard pass to take the 34-0 halftime advantage.
After the break, Cunningham recorded a 54-yard touchdown pass before E.J. Wilson returned an interception for points. Diego Holt ran for a 21-yard touchdown to end the scoring in the fourth quarter. Cunningham led the Chiefs’ receivers with 155 yards on five receptions with three touchdowns, while Walton led with 47 yards rushing on five attempts with two touchdowns.
