Robert “Bob” Mellert, age 86 of Scottsboro, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Highlands Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at 3:00 PM from the Scottsboro Funeral Home with Reverend David Davis, Reverend David Patterson, and Reverend James Jeffery officiating. Burial with military and Masonic honors followed from Pinehaven Memorial Garden. Pallbearers were members of the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Mellert was a veteran of the United States Air Force (USAF), where he served as an aircraft mechanic instructor. Mr. Mellert served in the Vietnam War and the Korean War. He served 18 months in Japan and at various Air Force bases in the US. During his career, he was the recipient of the USAF National Defense Medal, Meritorious Service Commendation Medal, USAF Good Conduct Medal, the Sharp Shooters Medal, and Air Force Organizational Excellence Ribbon. He was a member of the USAF Association.
