North Jackson Press has tried to
verify the items listed in our Community Announcements to determine whether or
not the events have been canceled due to Cornavirus precautions. We were unable
to get in contact with some churches, and the situtation is changing rapidly.
To be on the safe side, contact event organizers before going to the event to
make sure they are still meeting.
Road Closing
Be
advised the Jackson County Road
#61, between address 1919 and 2161, will be closed for drainage structure
replacements. The closures will occur on
Tuesday
and Wednesday, March 17 and 18 and on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 24 and 25
Each
day’s closing will occur from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm, depending on weather and site
conditions encountered. Please call Jackson
County Public

Jackson County Courthouse Closure
Jackson County Commission
Chairman Tim Guffey has declared a Local State of Emergency in response to the
Coronavirus Pandemic effective March 16,
2020, at 9 am.
In a press release, Guffey announced that the
Jackson County Courthouse would close at the end of business March 16, 2020,
and remain closed until April 6, 2020, as a preventative measure to ensure the
health and safety of all Jackson
County residents and
employees.
Essential County service departments will remain operational during
the closure but will be closed to the public. These departments include EMA,
Sanitation, Public Works (as needed), JCSO, and the Jackson County Jail.
Job Fair
There
will be a job fair for senior high students and adults, on Thursday, April 16,
from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Scottsboro Rec-Com, located at 701
S. Houston Street. The fair will feature local industries and local businesses. Candidates should have a resume and be
dressed for interviews on-site.
Market On The
Square
Main Street Scottsboro will hold its annual Market on the Square on
Saturday, April 18, from 9:00, am to 4:00 pm on the square in downtown
Scottsboro. There will be arts and crafts,
food, a craft area for the kids, music, and walking history tours.
Taco Trot 2020
Family
Services of North Alabama
will host a Taco Trot 5K on Friday, April 24, at Civitan Park in
Guntersville. Same-day registration will
be 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with the race beginning at 6:30 pm. The after-party will include a taco bar,
margaritas, and a Mexican band. Call 256-878-9159 for

Big Bass Splash
Rescheduled
The Big Bass Splash initially scheduled for March 27-29 has been
rescheduled for June 12-14 at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, Alabama. Registration will be on June 11 from 12:00
noon till 8:00 pm at the Bait and Tackle Shop at Goose Pond Colony. Fishermen can still register online at

New Life Ministries
New Life Ministries in Ider is an independent
non-denomination church led by the Holy Spirit of God. Services are held on Sundays at 10:30 am and
Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. Pastor Jeff

Under Grace Recovery Program
Amazing Grace Church Of God will begin holding Under Grace
Recovery Program meetings each Monday at 6:30 pm. For more information, call Pastor Frankie
