Scottsboro defeated Madison Academy Friday night in a game that saw the Wildcat defense lock the Mustangs down in the second half. Madison Academy lit up the scoreboard first in the opening period with a 52-yard touchdown strike from Avery Seaton to Clay Pitsinos. Camden Skipper blocked the PAT, and the Mustangs led 6-0. Scottsboro immediately countered with a 10-play, 67-yard drive, that culminated in a 3-yard scoring run by Cam Bass. Mees de Jongh was good for the first of three PATs in the game, and the Wildcats took a 7-6 lead. Madison Academy retook the lead early in the second quarter when Seaton found the endzone from five yards out. The 2-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the Mustangs with a 12-7 lead which stood at halftime. The second half was all Scottsboro as the Wildcats held Madison Academy scoreless for the remainder of the game. Scottsboro on the other hand, regained the lead on it’s first possession of the third quarter. After Jacob Manning’s only pass of the game connected with Rylee Whitehead at the 3-yard line, Bass took it in from there on the next play to put the Wildcats back up 14-12. Scottsboro extended their lead early in the fourth quarter when Seaton scored on 5-yard run. The lead held for the rest of the game and Scottsboro defeated Madison Academy 21-12. Notable in the game, was the fact that Manning and Bass both passed the thousand-yard mark rushing on the season. Manning turned in an impressive total of 234 yards on 39 carries for the game.
