Roy Estill Cates, Jr.
Roy
Estill Cates, Jr., age 86, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019,
when God called him home. The family
will hold a graveside service at a later date in the National Cemetery in
Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Estill
was born in Bridgeport, Alabama to his parents, Roy Estill Cates, Sr. and
Maggie Walker Cates. He had made his career by serving in the
United States Navy for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy,
Estill worked for Beaulieu in Bridgeport, for ten years before he made his
final retirement.
Estill
was of the Baptist faith and served God in numerous ways by the love of his
family, friends, and his country. His
hobbies included watching western movies and Alabama football.
Estill
was also preceded in death by Wife – Lilly Faye Cates. Daughter – Lisa Renee Carroll. Parents – Roy Estill Cates, Sr. and Maggie
Walker Cates. Brothers – L.D. Cates,
James Merrill Cates, and Harold Cates. Sisters
– Martha Jean Klutzz, Ruth Dixon, and Darlene Cates. Grandson – Justin Hallman.
Those
left to cherish his memories are Stepson – Jeff Kirk. Sister – Kay (Roger) Ford. Special niece Maggie (Herman) Avans. Grandchildren – Jessie Walters and John
Hallman. Several Great Grandchildren, Nieces,
and Nephews.
